Major Death Valley Photography Locations

admin October 7, 2011 0

7. Natural Bridge (36.281058,-116.769951)

30 min from Furnace Creek, it is a short hiking trail near Badwater. You will see the bridge at the end of the trail. The view is pretty good looking at Badwater.

8. Devil’s Golf Course (36.285638,-116.826285)

25 min from Furnace Creek, a large piece of tough, hard salty land, difficult to photograph as everything is flat. Maybe bring a closeup lens for some details.

9. Ubehebe Crater (37.011034,-117.454775)

1 hr 40 min from Furnace Creek on your way to The Racetrack, your will see this huge crater.

10. Rhyolite Ghost Town (36.900931,-116.829193)

1 hr and 10 min from Furnace Creek, very close to Beatty. This is the largest ghost town in Death Valley area.

11. Devil’s Cornfield (36.601031,-117.095686)

Next to Mesquite Flat Dunes, not very impressive.

12. Scotty’s Castle (37.03164,-117.340572)

1 hr 30 min from Furnace Creek, not very impressive.

Hotels:

1. Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel – Very close to Mesquite Flat Dunes (2 miles). 30 min away from Furnace Creek on CA190

2. Furnace Creek Resort – Center of the valley, good place to stay.

3. Beauty – Nearest town to Death Valley with many nice hotels. Located on US95, 1 hr 20 min from Furnace Creek Ranch.

4. Panamint Springs Resort – located on CA190, 1 hr and 20 min from Furnace Creek Ranch.

Campsites: There are 9 campsites there:

When to go?

Spring (March-April) and Fall (October) are the best; Winter is OK if you can stand the wind and cold; Summer is going to be too hot with temperature reaching 120F during the day.
