Bishop Creek Canyon on Oct. 8
Mostly green in Aspendell but along the narrow road to North Lake, the Aspens were at least 90% peak. Yellow colors were not as beautiful as last year’s due to the many brown spots caused by the snow-storm a few days ago. Still North Lake is worth going within the next few days.
A fall color spotter was wandering in North Lake area
There was some 70% yellow along the road to Lake Sabrina also. The aspens just below the lake were mostly green but there were colorful spots on the lake shore and the islands.
Lake Sabrina Island
The beginning of the South Fork was mostly green but aspen became more and more colorful (50-70% peak) at area near the lake. There were not much at the lake.
So in a week, color in North Lake will be gone but other area in Bishop Creek Canyon may pick up.
June Lake Loop on Oct. 8
Not much yet, need another week or two.
Lundy Canyon on Oct. 9
From 395 to Lundy Lake, there were some individual aspens that were at peak already, very beautiful. The majority were still green.
At the west end of Lundy Lake
The first half of the dirt road was also mostly green but color picked up near the end of the road. Aspens were about 50-70% peak at the parking area of the dirt road. This canyon will be spectacular in about a week or two.
Convict Lake on Oct. 9
Aspens started to turn yellow. Still need another 1-2 week to reach peak.
